The Importance of Quality Nutrition

Updated: Mar 15

A question I am frequently asked is "What do you feed your dogs?" There are so many food options out there that it can quickly become overwhelming and frustrating to new puppy owners and experienced dog owners alike. While I do not believe that there is a one-size-fits-all approach to canine nutrition, I do believe there are some choices that are much better than others.

So many of the well-known brands have had so many recalls over the years that it's almost impossible to keep up with? Did you know that many of these well-known, veterinarian-recommended, and pushed brands are huge investors and sponsors of Veterinarian colleges? Could this be why so many veterinarians blindly recommend those brands and products?

I have done quite a bit of research on canine nutrition over the years and feel confident that we are feeding great-quality foods that are not only competitive in price but also have no history of food recalls. The food of choice for us is a combination of quality kibble and raw feeding. We prefer TLC Pet food as a first choice and PawTree as a second choice when it comes to dry kibble. Both are nutritionally balanced and dense, neither have had recalls, TLS is made in Canada and is available only by mail order, and PawTree is made in the USA and also available only by mail order. Pawtree pet food is organic food and does carry a heftier price tag than TLC, but it is good quality food for your pet. As a disclaimer, I need to mention that PawTree is an MLM company, which means that people can sign up with the company to market and sell the food and make money doing so. Regardless, it is good quality food with several different formulas including grain-rich and grain-free.

If you ever have a question about dog food choices, please feel free to reach out to me and I'll be happy to set up a phone call so that we can chat. I love talking about anything dog or puppy-related, and I love meeting people who are interested in their pet's overall wellbeing.
